Ambassador Moumou accredited as Permanent Representative to IRENA

Seychelles Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Gervais Moumou, presented his credentials to the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Francesco La Camera, this week, accrediting him as Seychelles Permanent Representative to IRENA. (above photo).

Ambassador Moumou and the Director-General discussed Seychelles' participation in two upcoming significant events: the 14th Session of the IRENA Assembly, scheduled to take place on 16 April 2024, in Abu Dhabi, and the 4th International Conference for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), set to be held from 27 to 30 May 2024 in Antigua and Barbuda.

The discussions also covered strategies for enhancing cooperation and IRENA's support for accessing finance for renewable energy initiatives.

Seychelles became a member of IRENA on 2 June 2011. Since then, the country has greatly benefited from IRENA's support, including capacity building such as workshops, project facilitation such as the "Ile de Romainville" photovoltaic (PV) power plant, knowledge sharing, and technical assistance, among other forms of support.
